Lunatic mom representation! Also, I've recently become "Pacific Northwest Emily," which means lots of cardigans and sometimes, if I'm brave, no bra.

When I moved to Texas I started buying different clothes and we call it "Tex Mex me" in our house now. There's something to be said for a big cultural and climate change...it brings out some change in perspective on ourselves too, I think!

For sure. Also, love this

You are now in the climate of my young days. Wear all the floaty, tropical color things. None of our sad northern black and gray shit unless one is a tiny dress and the other is a teensy cropped sweater, and then only if it has cute buttons. De rigeur: in no way discreet nail polish and sunglasses.

Taking note of the cute buttons especially

I wish I was more of a lunatic mom. Still sweatpants mom since 2020.

I believe in you Edith!

I’m gonna see if I can make the transition from SM (sweatpants mom)

Solidarity on the toenails! The representation I didn't know I was waiting for... Thank you!!

Edith Zimmerman's avatar

lol!! The emails I’ve gotten in response to this post have mostly been to say that almost nothing works re: the toenails 😂 😭

Yeah i think the oral meds are the only thing that can be really effective (according to my extensive reddit research..), i've been putting it off for years as they can have rough side effects but think am ready to try!! Pls report back if your informants have any tips!

Edith Zimmerman's avatar

I will. My dermatologist recommended the oral med when I stop breastfeeding, so I may give that a go & will report back!

First-time commenter here to say I did the oral meds last year, and aside from having to get blood tests two or three times, it was a painless and, most importantly, effective process!! Takes a few months for the healthy nail to grow in, but I'd do again in a heartbeat (hopefully I won't have to). It's still a thrill every time I notice my pinky toenail no longer looks like a dried corn kernel.

Music to my ears

Same! Did the oral meds for a few months without any side effects, have been cleared of the stuff for years. :) It's the way to go!

Love to hear this!!

this is so hard to process, like my primary edith fact is that she’s NYC, and florida is /so/ not nyc. saying this from SF&LA btw, i’ve never seen Fl or NY : )

Edith Zimmerman's avatar

Believe me I know!!!!! I’m still sort of in shock

Totally get the obsession with that designer--super fun clothes! I remember when I moved to Florida (briefly) thinking also: new clothes, boho beach look, writing books. I did do those things (plus other stuff I'm not proud of, LOL now but then SHEESH). It's a fresh start--enjoy! So excited for you and the fam!

Edith Zimmerman's avatar

Thank you! Now I wanna know about those other things you did lol

Suzan Colón's avatar

LOL! The usual things you do when you're about to turn 30, you've just been laid off from your dream job, you're working as a secretary (for your parents, no less) by day and bartending by night and hanging around the local Miami Beach rock scene on the weekends. Guessable! Though honestly, thinking about it now, it really wasn't that bad. Ish.

Edith Zimmerman's avatar

So, the good old days 🥲

Suzan Colón's avatar

Ha! Exactly! Your good new days will definitely be nicer and more stylish!
