Thanks for sharing the story and the artwork. I'm an art teacher, and I paint mostly animals with added personality characteristics, so I always enjoy discovering a convergence! I did a quick check on Frederick in Wikipedia and the first image I found was hilarious to me. Especially because I'm in the final stages of writing my dissertation for an EdD in Art Ed! There are so many things that I hate about social media, but one of the things I LOVE is seeing someone I know following something I'm just discovering... especially if it's super niche. Love your mermaid and her odd-looking fish.

Yes! There’s nothing quite like it. It feels very intimate sometimes.

Aw nuts Substack changed the line spacing. Next to last is about Fate which I think of as 3 loving goddesses.

I love this. I am quite touched. Thank you so much, Penny.

Beautiful etching. Beautiful watercolors by you. What you wrote brought this song to my mind especially last verse (maybe about your big move or whatever) —-

When You Wish Upon a Star

By Cliff Edwards

When you wish upon a star

Makes no difference who you are

Anything your heart desires

Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream

No request is too extreme

When you wish upon a star

As dreamers do

Fate is kind

She brings to those who love

The sweet fulfilment of

Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue

Fate steps in and sees you through

When you wish upon a star

Your dreams come true
