Now more than ever, we have to go with our gut. I've always loved that you're on Etsy. Do what feels right to you and don't worry about what you're "supposed" to be doing.

There is not one right way. Give yourself time to find clarity about what next steps feel right to you.

Gosh. I hope you keep cartooning. Nan Tepper is giving a class on doing. SHORT STACK. Lots of thoughts.

I’m not going to stop cartooning! Thank you. If anything at this point I’m going to try to double down on the cartoons. I feel like it’s my calling! I’ve been trying to make some more traditional cartoon jokes recently, too. Which is really fun!

You're one of my favorite artists! I always feel like I come away with something truthful about the world, or my own internal life after reading one of your pieces or cartoons. My own work has always toed the line between illustration and "traditional" art, and I used to struggle with that (still do sometimes, honestly!) but mostly try to own it/love it now.

I love your drawing of you with those big eyes! I’m pretty old (62!) so have a bit of life experience. Plus mom of a 25 year old daughter. I promise these times of overwhelm become fewer. I eagerly await more of your work!

Would you ever make a picture book or a graphic novel for kids? I’ve been entering the children’s book world lately a bit and I feel like it’s activating the same parts of my brain as comics and fine art. Maybe I’m just being selfish because I want my kids to read your work, idk!

In theory yes, but for whatever it’s not yet what comes out! I would love to do that eventually, though.

I wanted to add — it’s only as my kids get older that it’s starting to work for me — my older one is eight now and something about him being at an age I can truly, viscerally remember is making it feel more like writing about myself and less like writing for what I “think” a kid would want.

Initially realizing a new big load of marketing work is indeed dispiriting. If you make a plan with steps and with a timeline then all is comfortably done-able. You cannot do it all in one week nor one month. People with big bucks hire out for someone else to do the work. Plan a long timeline. I cannot suggest fairly just how long. You can. And I double underscore those two words and add a heart emoji. I cannot find an emoji for Planning Sensibly With Enjoyment!! ♥️
