Edith, I've loved your comics for years! Question for you - did you use any books or classes to start cartooning or are you totally self-taught? I've taken lots of like figure drawing classes and things over the years, but I have no clue how to start extrapolating that into cartooning. I need to be looking at something to draw it... any advice from you or other readers would be welcome! :) :) :)
Thank you, Amy! I studied drawing & realistic figure drawing in college (20 yrs ago), but when I started cartooning I was basically just doing glorified stick figures. Eventually, over the past 8 years, they've become what I do now, and I imagine it will continue to evolve. I remember it was a big leap when I added noses! You can kind of see the progression if you scroll to the beginning of my Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/edithzimmermans/ (I would never normally encourage someone to do that, but just to see the evolution of the art it's maybe useful)
