I only happened to discover I was going to be in Edith's neighborhood from an offhand remark in a recent issue of Drawing Links. So yeah, weird and wonderful.
I once swam in a lake full of newts in Vermont. It was not at all gross, in fact it was inexplicably fun (for me, anyway, and it didn't seem to scare the newts). PS Is Jason related to Leo Kottke?
Amazing. I'm trying to think of a joke like "newt beach" ... like nude beach ... that's all I've got. But that's an incredible visual. I can see it being like swimming with fairies. Let's see if JK comes down here to answer the other Q...
Oh! I work for a park district, and we have a road we close seasonally for the newt migration. I'm always very delighted to receive the "road is now open/closed due to newts" emails.
I just find it so delightful that two of my favorite internet-famous newsletter authors met up IRL.

This comment is so nice to read. Thank you, Jenny. And: Probably??? In fact I'll say yes definitely.

No relation (tho my dad and he were both in Minneapolis in the 60s).
