Hi, I’m Edith, and this is a newsletter with comics and links. I’d love to know what you think; please feel free to reply to this email!

My friend Carley Moseley (who is also technically my first cousin once removed!) puts out a weekly/occasional newsletter, Salad Days, in which she links to cool stories, but my favorite thing she’s doing right now is explaining what’s going on with the Sims she created years ago. I don’t really understand The Sims, but her updates have been making me laugh out loud. For instance: “So when we last left MariAnne Hoagie she was pretty amped on life, and I'm happy to report this remains true! She seems absolutely jazzed to live alone in a kinda bizarre Victorian garage with no roof or doors to the outside (just ... open wall slots?). I have no recollection whatsoever of building this house … [but] MariAnne appears to be crushing it: she is fully unemployed, wears a smoking jacket and pencil skirt, and recently ‘Pleaded With Grim Reaper’ (a man named Marc Landgrabb [???] swam to death in her pool). This was ultimately a bargain she lost, but she consoled herself by — YES — doing sit ups! Is she a total sociopath?? We'll never, ever, ever know!”
I also love Andrew Janjigian’s newish bread-themed newsletter Wordloaf, which offers recipes and bread stories. (Janjigian hails from Cook’s Illustrated and America’s Test Kitchen, and we met through the Substack fellowship program.) A personal favorite is his recent focaccia installment. (“FYI, grape focaccia might seem strange, but it is actually a thing, and very nice. Especially when toasted and slathered with peanut butter, which is not a thing, but very nice.”)
Lovely post Edith! There is definitely a connection between exercise and mental health. I've been doing morning walks for a couple years now and wow I've never felt better. That Alex really knows his audience with the winks and all. Lol
