If you watch an evening primrose in the... evening... you may catch it in the act of opening a new flower. You might pull up a chair. Once you start watching you must not take your eyes from it. The reward is worth the wait. And you will also learn that no passing distraction is worth a glance no matter how fleeting because of course that's when the primrose will do it's thing.
I have Evening Primrose in my garden too but mine is pale pink. It came from a package of wildflower seeds and it liked the gravely soil by my front door. I’ve planted dozens of things there but it’s the only plant besides the pyracantha that wants to grow there.
I like that as a metaphor. Something about trial and error, and gravely soil, and finding the right plant... Also, I am googling, and these pink evening primroses are so pretty.
